Frequently Asked Questions about Volunteering with MicroFinance Transparency
Do I need experience to volunteer?
Since MicroFinance Transparency is a young and growing organization with a small staff, we benefit from volunteers who have experience in a specific area. Volunteers with knowledge of public relations, general communications, translation, web programming, graphic design, data entry and analysis, fundraising or adult financial literacy are of significant help to us. There are volunteer opportunities, however, that do not require previous experience and in which MFTransparency staff can train you.
Where are your volunteers located?
Our volunteers work virtually, using email and Skype to communicate with the team, and are located all over the world. We need support from volunteers who speak many different languages and understand varying cultural contexts so please don’t let location be a deterrent to helping us!
How much time does volunteering take?
There is no minimum time commitment. We appreciate any offer of support.
Can I do more than one thing?
Yes. Volunteers are often involved in several areas, depending on their interests and expertise.
Will I receive training?
Yes, volunteers receive on the job training.
Are internships available for college or graduate school credit?
Yes. Speak with us and your school to find out if you are eligible.
