The Kenya pricing data set is also amongst the first to display the Pricing Transparency Index – MFTransparency’s new scale for rating the level of transparency of a price. Applicable at a range of levels – country, institution, product and loan, the Index shows the percentage of the loan price that is communicated by the lender’s nominal interest rate to the borrower. The updated pricing data will result in increased knowledge of pricing within Kenya’s microfinance industry and a better understanding of pricing trends over time. As a prerequisite for responsible pricing and a key element of consumer protection, transparent pricing leads to better-informed decisions by all industry stakeholders.

Over the past few months we have released updated pricing data for a number of countries, including Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana, India and Cambodia. More data is soon to come!
