A commonly spoken value of the microfinance industry is that we are committed to respecting our clients by practicing responsible corporate behavior. Communicating transparent pricing is a central element of responsible behavior, and truth-in-lending has been widely embraced by the global microfinance community in recent years.
MFTransparency works on a country-by-country basis to facilitate the collection of publishing of transparent pricing for all MFIs in the country. However, MFIs not located in our current countries have no means to confirm to outside stakeholders what the true prices of their products are. For this reason, MicroFinance Transparency provides the service of pricing certification to individual MFIs.
The prices presented in our certification report follow our standard policies and principles. MFTransparency collects a large amount of actual data from the institution and applies our standard calculation procedures. The certification reports contain a summary of the findings as well as the information used to generate the prices.
In December 2010, Grameen Bank invited MicroFinance Transparency to certify their prices, and this report presents that information. Click the image below to read the full report.
