About Us
MicroFinance Transparency is a young 501(c) 3 nonprofit startup that collects data about
microfinance loans and calculates the true interest rate, as part of an effort to educate stakeholders and promote fair and transparent pricing. (read more about our launch at Businessweek )
MicroFinance Transparency (MFT) is looking for a skilled full-time web developer to expand our systems as we expand into additional countries.
About You
This is an exciting opportunity for a developer who:

You will be working with one other developer/manager and a team of content creators to
develop data analysis, approval, translation, and educational systems to allow us
to grow more quickly.
Responsibilities
- Create database queries, forms, and web pages to support data collection efforts in each country
- Localize site content using i18n (internationalization)
- Develop business logic and refine interest rate calculations
- Program systems to screen and process submitted data
- Perform analysis of data trends in each country
- Support the development of a content management system used to educate stakeholders

Where
Location is flexible, as an applicant with a correctly configured computer
could work virtually, but a location within traveling distance of
Lancaster, PA is preferred to allow in-person meetings and closer coordination with
other team members.
Skills/qualifications/experience:
- At least 3 years of relevant programming experience
- Experience with a scripting language, preferably Python
- Ability to independently install and configure python packages, databases, and linux programming tools;
- Strong javascript skills. Familiarity with jQuery a plus;
- Strong html/css skills;
- Design/Graphic/image editing skills a plus;
- Familiarity with current web content practices such as “tagging”, “RSS”, etc;
- Experience using a source code versioning system like git or subversion;
- Proactive, engaged and ethical team player;
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively without close supervision;
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in English required;
